Staying Safe Online
Give your child the skills to make safer decisions online
You can't be there for every message, game, post or online interaction. You can help them know what to do when you're not.
Staying Safe Online is a practical digital safety course for children aged 8 to 12 designed to build the judgement and confidence they need to navigate the online world more safely.

Seven skills for safer digital independence
By completing the course, your child will learn how to:
Recognise personal information and understand what could reveal more than they intended.
Think before sharing photos, information, messages and posts.
Spot online red flags including suspicious messages, pressure, secrecy and unsafe requests.
Think critically about people online and recognise that people aren't always who they say they are.
Understand their digital footprint and what can happen once something is shared.
Set and protect boundaries online and know that it's always OK to say no or leave an interaction.
Respond when something goes wrong and know when and how to ask a trusted adult for help.
Knowing how to use technology isn't the same as knowing how to navigate it safely
Children can be incredibly confident online. But would your child know what to do if: Someone asked where they live or go to school? A friendly online contact asked them to keep a conversation secret? A photo accidentally revealed personal information? They clicked, shared or sent something they regretted? Something online simply didn't feel right?
That's the gap Staying Safe Online is designed to address.
Practical. Age-appropriate. Built for children.
Guided by Byte, children work through short lessons, realistic scenarios, videos and quizzes, supported by a student workbook and take-away resources.
No scare tactics. No technical jargon.
Just practical skills children can use in the situations they encounter online.
